What is Paleo?

 

The Paleo diet is based on foods that Paleolithic or prehistoric humans would have eaten.

Also known as the caveman diet, it essentially means the food you eat must be as natural as possible. Not only does it avoid modern processed foods, it also eliminates foods that humans began eating after the Neolithic Revolution when humans transitioned from hunter-gatherer lifestyles to settled agriculture. So that means no dairy, no grains, no refined sugar but more about the in's and out's here. According to Loren Cordain, PhD, and author of The Paleo Diet, the results of the Paleo lifestyle have shown reduce the chances of getting diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other health problems. You invariably end up leaner too!

 

It’s basically a high-protein, high-fibre eating plan. If your goal is to lose weight or simply to lead a healthier lifestyle, you can do so without having to cut calories.
